My name is Becky, and this is a blog about aspects of my life. I am a male to female (MTF) transgender person, and with trans folks in the news, I figure this is as good a time as any to start up a blog on my experiences. I know we are not all the same, though many of us share common experiences, hopes and fears. The story of Caitlin Jenner is making news these days, bringing trans folks into the spotlight. My story is different from hers, as it is different from the way too many trans folks who spend time homeless or trapped in the sex trade.
I feel the need to tell my story. I am a big time introvert, so telling my story by blog is much more comfortable for me than getting out there face to face with folks, though I went through a phase of trying to educate the public a few years back.
There is power in stories, and I have two hopes for telling mine. The first is that someone who may have questions about being transgender will increase their understanding and acceptance about who they are by reading my story. The second is that those who aren't transgender who read my story will gain a little more acceptance or at least understanding of what it is like to be trans.
